The music video for MGMT’s Time to Pretend, inspired by Alejandro Jodorowsky

I recently read a news item in DN – one of Sweden’s finest morning papers, about a young up-and-coming director called Ray Tintori. He had apparently made a couple of original, colorful and psychedelic music videos for the band MGMT. One of them, Time to Pretend, had references to Alejandro Jodorowsky’s (who influenced David Lynch by the way) bizarre 1973 movie The Holy Mountain. Tintori is currently collaborating with Spike Jonze on his feature film debut. I had heard of MGMT before, but never really listened to them. However, yesterday I located the video for Time to Pretend on YouTube and I was blown away – not only by the video, but by the song as well and particularly by the two of them combined. Hell, I’m inspired!
